Slaves sold in Kentucky likely ended up in cities of Lexington and Louisville found in the fertile Bluegrass Region an area that was well known for its; tobacco plantations and horse farms. The slaves represented 25 percent of the population before the civil war in Kentucky that previously was known as the upper south or Border State.
