A scientist finds a foramina on a bone sample what can the scientist conclude

The foramina also called openings are located in every pair of vertebrae. The scientist could conclude this bone belongs to a living vertebrae and that roots of the spinal nerve pass through this foramen. Cervical,lumbar and thoracic part of spinal cords have foramens.
