Gatsby accidentally killed Myrtle, George's mistress, while he was driving his car. George was furious because he was in love with Myrtle (rather than his own wife, Daisy), so he went to Gatsby's house and murdered him in his pool. Later on, he committed suicide himself.
These characters are from Fitzgerald's novel, The Great Gatsby, published in 1925.
