Sex cell or gamete mutation can be inherited. On the other hand, non-sex cell or somatic cell mutation cannot. This is because sex cells are produced through meiosis. In this stage, the chromosome complements are halved. In this way, mutations that happen during this stage can be passed on to the offspring if these sex cells are used in the fertilization of the zygote.
