The theme of "The Bicycle Girl" is love. The author saw an unknown girl that had locked her bicycle next to his, and was bewildered and enchanted by her. She didn't do anything in particular to attract his attention, nor was he instantly aware that he fell in love. It was an interesting, extraordinary love.
