How does the literary point of view in The Pit and the Pendulum affect the readers understanding of the story?

I think the literary piece was written in the Narrator's point of view to show more of its rhetorical side. Aside from that, it is written in a way to emphasize more of the details of the story. If the piece was written in another point of view, most probably it would make the story dull and boring
