In order pay off the debt to recover from the Seven Years War, Great Britain began to heavily tax their colonies in the U.S. Majority of objections include heavy taxation without consulting the colonists, (remember the famous line, 'No taxation without representation'). Take the Sugar Act, Stamp Act and Townshend Act as an example.
