in a school of 940 pupils, the number of girls exceeds the number of boys by 150. how many girls are there

number of girls=545

total no. of students=940

let no. of girls=x+150

let no. of boys=x

x+(x+150)=940

x+x+150=940

2x+150=940

2x=940-150

2x=790

x=790/2

x=395

no. of boys=395

no.of girls=395+150=545
