8X+5Y=23
8X=23-5Y

-8X+9Y= -19 multiple all by -1
8X-9Y=19
8x=23-5y
Plug that in
23-5Y-9Y=19
-14Y=19-23
-14Y= -4
Y=1

8X=23-5Y
8X=23-5•1
8X=23-5
8X=18
X=18/8
X=9/4
