use the pythagorean theorem:
a^2 + b^2 = c^2
plug in the given values:
0.7^2 + b^2 = 2.5^2
simplify:
0.49 + b^2 = 2.5^2
0.49 + b^2 = 6.25
b^2 = 5.76
b = √5.76
b = 2.4
the answer is 2.4 miles
