Excessive racial or ethnic tensions was not a reason for the instability in Latin America. Although, this has existed and still exists, it was not one of the main reasons for the instability in Latin America. The Latin American governments relied heavily on political protection from the United States, the infrastructure was/is underdeveloped in some areas of the countries and the governing of the caudillos which was quite authoritarian.
