x(x^2 - 1)

Explanation

Order of Operations is BIDMAS

Therefore division before subtraction.

x^2 / x^1

Use law of indices where

x^m / x^n = x^m-n

So

x^2 / x^1 = x^2-1 = x^1 = x

x^3 - x is no possible as they aren’t like terms, However you can factorise to obtain

x(x^2 - 1)
