Food intolerance is not caused by an immune reaction. It causes discomfort, but it is not dangerous.
A food allergy is an inappropriate reaction of the body after ingestion of a food allergen that will be recognized as foreign by the body of the allergic person, and will trigger an abnormal immune response. (Which can be dangerous)
