According to Dryden, the elements that a writer should focus on creating satire in his works would be to maintain the subtlety of the ridicule. It is important to not overemphasize the satire. Also, a writer should focus applying satire on an important, serious, or taboo topics. Lastly, satire must be used in allegory.
