A rectangle has an area of 112 square units. If its width was half as long and its length was 8 times as long, what would be its new area?

Area (rectangle)=lenght x width
lenght=x
width=y
xy=112 u²

Then
(y/2)(8x)=4xy
Therefore:
xy=112 u²  then  4xy=4(112 u²)=448 u²

answer: the new area would be 448 u²
