The additive inverse of 2 is -2.

In general, the additive inverse of a number, x, is -x because of the following:

x + (-x) = x - x = 0

We see that when we add a number to its negative, we always get 0. Therefore, the additive inverse of a number, x, is -x, so the additive inverse of 2 is -2. We can verify this by adding 2 and -2 and making sure we get 0.

2 + (-2) = 2 - 2 = 0
