To solve for t, you have to get rid of the 15.7 which is subtracted. You have to add 15.7 to both sides. Because on one side it will cancel out and then get t alone. 
The answer is D!

t - 15.7 = 53.4
 + 15.7   +15.7
t = 69.1

Explanation:
In order to solve for t, you first need to get t by itself.  
You get t by itself by adding 15.7 to both sides.
